Seeing Your True Nature: Recognizing It

When we read Van Gogh’s letters and look at his paintings, when we read Su Shi’s writings, we see ardent, radiant, free souls. We feel that Van Gogh and Su Shi are still alive, living in these works.

What we are actually seeing is human nature, our human essence, our true nature. We see the ardent, radiant side of our own hearts. We name it Van Gogh, Su Shi.

Just as when we look at Marx, Engels, Norman Bethune, Su Shi, and Li Bai, we see the radiance of our true nature. We name it Marx, Engels, Norman Bethune, Su Shi, Li Bai.

Renowned exemplars of great character are names given to particular aspects of our true nature. #OpenSourcePersonhood#

To live as yourself is to live out your original self, your inherent nature, your true nature, rather than your ego or individuality.

If one day people see an aspect of their true nature and name it Su Huoyi, that will be my achievement.

We see radiant things in others because we have them within ourselves too. We recognize them.

In those who help us, in beautiful people, in ordinary people whose goodness, sincerity, and beauty are unadorned, and in nature, we recognize a great radiance, a rhythm. We ourselves are part of this great radiance: heaven and humanity are one; all things are equal and arise together. Not knowing how to describe it, we name it the Way.
