Psychoanalysis Reveals the Poetry, the Sacred, and Cthulhu in Ordinary Life

Psychoanalysis reveals the poetry, the sacred, and Cthulhu in ordinary life.
The essence of psychoanalysis is to help people understand themselves and the human mind. Only by understanding the dance of the libido can we understand the artistry of the human psyche.
A child who has dropped out of a mountain village primary school, a delivery worker rushing around to support a family, a secondary school student skipping class to go to an internet café, a lost university student, a housewife in a midlife crisis… These are the everyday lives of ordinary people like us, utterly ordinary and unremarkable in social and utilitarian terms.
But through the eyes of psychoanalysis, they are fireworks of every color, extraordinary sacrifices, indomitable fighting spirits, struggles against sinking into despair. They are stirring oil paintings, souls with innate wholeness, existential epics of struggling amid the predicaments of reality.
Psychoanalysis tells us what the libido is doing. He builds a hell within himself to torment himself. He defends against fatal anxiety and emptiness. He seeks a mother’s love, investing all his energy. He seeks the familiar pain etched into his soul while pursuing intimate, sacred connection. He conjures different masks while searching for his true self. He has both an uncontrollable urge to survive and an uncontrollable urge to destroy. He deceives himself and others while shouting the truth in his dreams. Having gone mad, he soothes his maddened brain; it does not matter which of the two calms down first. Ultimately, the id has innate wholeness; the id is at peace, compassionate toward oneself.
Every ordinary soul is a philosopher and a poet. Each suffers the karmic flames of the human world and the bitter fires of hell, yet the flame of inner clarity has never gone out. That is why they understand poetry, drama, art, and metaphor; love, hate, affection, and enmity; history, politics, and the social sciences.
That is why an ordinary person’s, an ordinary student’s, or an ordinary middle-aged person’s offhand remark or casual snapshot so often makes enormous waves online. This is poetry that resonates across society, among the people: do you hear the people sing.
People long to be seen, but first they must see their own hearts. Love yourself, be yourself, and do not betray yourself.
Marx, Zhuangzi, and psychology allow people to see the simple goodness, truth, beauty, and innate wholeness of billions of people, of the working class at the bottom of society. They also allow people to see the Cthulhu in everyday life. Beneath the appearance of mediocrity, people are devouring their own kind, selling their souls, eating their own flesh and blood, swallowing children, and laying siege to truth, goodness, and beauty.
The vast majority of individual problems are social problems. Capitalism only wants to hire a pair of hands, but they always come attached to a brain.
In an atomized cyberpunk society, everyone is isolated and without support, yet everyone carries the fate of all humanity. Taken together, they are us, the ordinary humans on this blue planet. With Marx, Zhuangzi, and psychology, defend the soul and save ourselves.
